It's summer so it's time to prepare for winter. Slightly used winter tires are relatively cheap right now, so I think it's best to buy them now. Looking at cars which wheels fit my car I found a car I really like; the Peugeot 205 (GTI). I like the wheels on those cars as well. However, the 205 is a significantly older design than my 406 coupe (-15 years) so the style might not fit. What do you think? I do think my MS Paint skills impacted the relative size of the wheels, in reality they would seem a bit (one inch) smaller than my sketch. Both my stock wheels and the GTI wheels are 15 inch.

Plasti-dip steelies.
Cheap, strong, easy to find sizes.
I plan on this for the wife's Impreza.

What is the bolt pattern? What size are the stock wheels? What is the offset of the stock wheels?

I would go steelies as well. Tough, cheap and perfect for a little winter abuse.

I use my stock wheels (17") with Winter tires and have a second set (18") for Summer use.
So I guess I'm suggesting to put Winter tires on the stockers and get a Summer set in a few months.

What should you get...? Easy...a place to live where it does not snow.

4x108, 15 inch, ET12. The GTI wheels are 4x108, 15 inch, ET18, which means the offset is 6 mm off. That's not a big difference if I'm not mistaken, especially since the wheels are narrower (185 versus 205) which is a good thing for winter tires.
Cars that have the same bolt pattern and hub diameter as my car: http://steekmaat.nl/auto/Peugeot/4…

I would go with those GTI wheels. That seems like a really good match.

It works better than I thought it would, based on your Paintshop. Alternatively, are these 15s?
Or if you really hate yourself, you could get these!
Or buy some black Team Dynamics wheels from Dutch Halfords and play Touring Car:
Or, y'know, get steelies and find some 406 hubcaps.

Those are 16s, and would fit. But with a larger diameter usually comes the same or more width. I prefer narrower wheels for winter wheels. Another advantage is that the wheels are relatively small, so there's a lot of rubber and thus less chance of damage. But maybe I should just go for steelies.
